Intel is strategic partner of the Asian CSR Awards and technology partner of the Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility.

Intel takes on a bigger role in Asia’s foremost Conference and Expo on Corporate Social Responsibility - now in its seventh year.

Singapore - Intel will play a major role as a strategic partner supporting the seventh annual Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) being held with the Asian CSR Awards at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront in Singapore on November 20 & 21, 2008. This is Intel’s third consecutive year of participation supporting AFCSR.

In association with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Intel also offers the Intel-AIM Corporate Responsibility Award, which honors specific companies, NGOs, and organizations in Asia for excellent CSR projects in one or more of the following areas:
• Education – Improving Access to and Quality of Basic Education
• Community Involvement – providing sustainable executive time and attention
• Environmental Stewardship – taking the lead in improving the environment
• Poverty Alleviation through providing innovative use of ICT

The Intel-AIM Corporate Responsibility Award is non-competitive and not for a specific project or program, but for an organization that best lives and breathes corporate social responsibility

“Corporate responsibility at Intel reflects our deep respect for people and for the world around us. It is integrated into how we do business — from providing a progressive workplace for our employees to setting ethical expectations for our suppliers to delivering more energy efficient products” says Dr. Anjan Ghosh, Regional Director, Corporate Affairs, Asia Pacific, Intel.

Intel’s approach to corporate responsibility is motivated by the understanding that the success of the company cannot be separated from the health of the planet and of economies around the world. Critical to Intel’s approach is the fact that although significant investments are made, the company does more than make financial contributions — Intel gets directly involved with sustained programs and advocacy to drive change at a community, national and global level. Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, develops technologies, products and initiatives to continuously advance how people work and live. Additional information about Intel is available at www.intel.com.

Recognized as being the largest and most significant conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Asia, the principal hosts of AFCSR 2008 are the Asian Institute of Management’s Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Center for Corporate Responsibility (AIM-RVR Center) and Singapore Compact for CSR. The organizing committee is composed of representatives from major sponsors, regional NGOs, International organizations and CSR organizations. The event manager is OIC EVENTS.

Mr. Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr., President and CEO of PHINMA, Co-chairs the event with Mr. Boon Yoon Chiang, Chairman & Managing Director of Jardine Matheson (Singapore) Ltd. and Ms. Claire Chiang, President of Singapore Compact for CSR.

The theme of AFCSR 2008 is CSR - Business Response to Social Issues: Getting it Done.

The Asian Forum recognizes it is time to move on – from defining and “selling” CSR to getting it done. Move on to the implementation of CSR and see what companies are doing to get it done and what directions the experts are advocating.

“Getting it done” encompasses business understanding the consequences of their doing business in the areas of core competence and taking responsibility for these consequences and doing something about it. As Molière said – “we are responsible not just for what we do but what we don't”.

The Asian Forum 2008 in Singapore will look at these issues of implementing CSR as perhaps an “advanced” course. However, there will be enough nuts and bolts sessions for those who wish to gain better insights into the basics.

The event is extremely well supported and attended by senior business executives and major NGO’s throughout the Asian region. Additionally, a number of Singapore government officials are expected to attend this year’s conference.

AFCSR 2008 indeed has the support of numerous distinguished sponsors including Intel, Microsoft, Shell and The Coca-Cola Company as Strategic Corporate Partners; Ballarpur Industries Ltd, Borneo Motors (Singapore) Pte Ltd, City Developments Limited, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., Holcim and Standard Chartered Bank as Official Industry Partners, Banyan Tree, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Senoko Power and Tolaram Group as Cooperating Partner and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. The Official Public Relations Company Partner is Bang Public Relations Pte Ltd – Singapore with AMEX Team, Integrated Public Relations, Masso PR and PR Society of Indonesia as Cooperating PR Partners. Official media partners include International Herald Tribune, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Ammado, Asian Quality Magazine, Asia Weekly, Business Monitor International / Asia Monitor, BusinessWorld, China CSR, CSR Asia, The Employer Magazine, The Training Magazine and XL Media.
